In a breathtaking display of resilience, Carlos Alcaraz staged an extraordinary comeback to defeat world number one Jannik Sinner 4-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(3), 7-6(10-2) in Sunday's French Open final - a five-set masterpiece that will be remembered as one of Roland Garros' greatest championship battles.
The Spanish sensation saved three match points in the fourth set before prevailing in an electrifying super tiebreak to claim his second consecutive French Open title and solidify his position as the new king of clay following Rafael Nadal's era.
"First I want to congratulate Jannik for an incredible tournament," said Alcaraz, who joins Roger Federer as only the second man in professional tennis history to win his first five Grand Slam finals. "The level you showed today was unbelievable. I have no doubt you'll lift many more major trophies - it's an honor to share these historic moments with you."
